TASHA PATEL

Playing the role of Rosie Harvey.

We choose Tasha to play this role as she is a drama student, who enjoys acting this meant that we would have a convincing actor who took the role seriously. Tasha is also a close friend meaning that we knew she would be reliable and not let us down.

MAX BRANDON
we choose to use max as he is a confident, bubbly character that is reliable and up for anything.

Risk Assessment

This is our risk assessment, this is a very important document as we need to be aware of anything that may go wrong, disrupt the shoot or harm the cast or crew.

Call Sheet

This is our call sheet, we will hand this out to our actors so that they know where to be and when, each member of our production team will also have this, so they know where they should be and the numbers are on there so each person can be contacted.

Shoot Schedule

This is our shoot schedule, this is our plan when shooting our short opening. This schedule includes, what time everyone has to be where and what shots will be taken and when.The importance of this is so that our team and actors know what they have to do and when, this will help us stay organised and on track.

Shot List

This is our shot list, this is the order that we will shoot each different shot. This list will help us make sure that we have filmed each shot and not missed any out, this will also help us shot all scene in the most efficient way.

Animatic

This is our animatic, this is a extremely basic idea of what our opening to the film may look like. Using a storyboard images we have created this video, we have placed the photos in order and placed the correct sound effects and music over them this has given us a idea of what the final piece may look like. This task was important as it has given us the go ahead with our idea, if this did not work or didn't look right we would of had to re think our idea.

Parity Remake

This is our parity re-make, in order to experiment a bit more with the cameras and practice all the skills we have learnt we re made another groups film openeing. This was an important task as it gave us one last practice with the cameras, it also helped us practice our editing skills. In order to get the interesting effects on parity we colour graded it and added a jumpy effect. overall this was a interesting opening to make and we hope ours will come out as good as this or even better!

This part of london is very edgy, perfect for a thriller film, the couple will be shown to walk under the bridge.

We will film our couple form the bridge walking on the street , this will give a good vantage point as we will hopefully get some natural extras.

This is our 1st choice to film the phone-booth scene, it is outside One Aldwych Hotel in london, it is a quiet location perfect for filming.

This is our week 4 video diary.

Storyboard

We filmed our storyboard pictures in school because we felt the location wasn't the importance of it. We made the storyboard to show the characters needed for casting, filming techniques, angles (Low - show power. High - Intimidation), Shot types and how many title slates were needed, along with how many over all shots. We checked that the rule of thirds was used in every single shot, and that we didn't break the 180 degree rule.

Production logo

This is our production Logo, we used Flash to create it. We created the name 'Skyline Productions' because it sounds both professional and interesting. The moving logo idea came from the name, We used three colours for the colour scheme as it looks creative, any more colours would have made it look messy and non-professional. The movement of our logo is quite jumpy, this connects with the genre of film we are creating; a Thriller.

Time and Scene Walk-through

This is the video the group made, we all took part in being in the video and then also shared the work editing and uploading the video. In order to create the video we interviewed a variety of people of different age groups and gender and asked them different questions:

1)What they expect to see when watching a thriller film.

2)What they expect to feel when watching a thriller film.

3)What their favourite film is and why.

After filming all the different people, we discussed howe we should present it, we came up with a creative video idea. We edited the whole video and came up with the following, we hope you enjoy it!

Overall we all agreed that the video was successful and we was all very pleased with the way the video turned out, to improve the video we would maybe give the actors more time in order to practice what they have to say and compose themselves however we did the best we could in the time that we had. The video as a whole reveals what different audiences expect when they watch a thriller film therefore the video has meet the criteria.

BBFC Research

Taken 

The user ratings for Taken do not vary drastically, the difference between the females and males is 0.1%,  and the males being the higher percentage. Even though the film age certificate 18, under 18's have a higher percentage than 18-29 and the lowest percentage was the over 45's.

Se7en

Seven's highest user rating is under 18 males, over all 0.2% is the difference between females and males. Females 45 and over has the lowest user rating. This shows that over all more males watched the film Seven.

Panic Room

Panic Room is mainly watched by males, there is only 0.1% between the females and males. Under 18's have the highest user ratings, with the rating dropping from 7.5% to 6.7% and 6.9% it shows that under 18's watched Panic Room the most.

Butterfly Effect

The butterfly Effect has the same user ratings for males and females, the user ratings also tell us that under 18's have the highest user ratings. Both male and females over the age of 45 have he lowest user ratings. 

Iconic Directors

After some thought of on how to present out iconic directors information we decided to add different ideas together in order to make the video more interesting and unique. Using xranormal and ourselves representing the directors we editing different videos we made together. The three of us worked hard in order to to make the video wasn't boring or dull, Danny played the part of he first director, i, Rosie played the second and Grace played the final one. We all took part in the creation and the editing of the video, hope you enjoy it!

Preliminary Task

Above is our Script, we were the only group on our AS class who wrote their own, we decided to do this to have more freedom and also we wanted to be more creative, we decided to make the officer a little aggressive as in typical thriller film, you usually find a dirty cop, one that doesn't follow the rules but gets the job done. When shooting the short film, we changed a few of the lines to make the scene flow easer and to make it more professional rather than amateur. When we shot the preliminary task each of us took turns in controlling the camera also we all adjusted the exposure, white balance and focus to make sure we could all do it, we made sure that we all had a chance to use the camera.

This task taught us to importance of framing and how a mis-framed shot could ruin the rest of the film and if a shot is framed well, how effectively it works. We all had a go at editing the final film and we all had a go at editing the match on action scene so when it comes to our thriller film opening, we all will be able to edit at a good standard.

Preliminary Exercise

For this task we had to create a presentation including the definitions, examples and how to use the following things; match on action, 180 degree rule and shot reverse shot. As a group we decided to use the online website 'Prezi', this helped us put together an interesting presentation that included all the different information needed. We all contributed, by using all of our notes combined and taking it in turns to type up the information and experimenting with what the website can do, evidence of this is presented out out individual blogs.
